A Vision of Worship, Part 1
I'd like to take the next couple of weeks to focus on a vision of worship that came during a time of prayer and reflection when I was just starting out as a worship leader.
Our worship will be...Heavenly Focused
Colossians 3:1-2 – Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
It's so easy to be focused on the daily grind! From the demands of a job, managing a household, a family and friends, there's a tendency to never stop and focus on the things of God. But that's where we should start.
Whether it's a time of private worship or when we're entering the sanctuary to worship our Lord together, it's very important to focus on heavenly things. After all, our worship is for God - shouldn't we be focusing on Him?
This is true of all of us, even those who are leading worship. I often find myself distracted on Sunday mornings by getting the family to church, making sure all the music is ready, making sure everyone is on the same page, the song projection is just right, the sound mix is perfect, etc. I'm sure you can relate with your own list of items! Each of us can find times when we're more focused on the trappings of our lives, and not on the very subject of our worship. Let's remind ourselves to "Be still and know that [He] is God"...Psalm 46:10
